Is it mandatory to link WEAP with MODFLOW to develop a good groundwater model? I am new to modelling. I would be grateful if somebody could help me with my doubt. It would be a great help if anybody could tell me the limitations of WEAP in groundwater modelling.

Thanks in advance...

Hi Anupama,

Groundwater modeling using WEAP depends on your problem. If you need to know the temporal and spatial variation of groundwater resources parameters, you have to link WEAP with Modelflow, otherwise, WEAP can simulate groundwater balance and its interaction with surface water in the WEAP.

Hi!

I think the answer for your question is related to the answer you try solve with the model. If your question is strongly related to groundwater flow is important give the better develop to this.

There are 3 ways to model an aquifer in WEAP. (a) Model the flow, (b) Specify the flow and (c) with MODFLOW.

If you choose the last one, my advice is to look the tool LinkKitchen in this page (http://www.bgr.bund.de/IWRM-DSS).

For this software, the tutorial is really good and clear and even in the manual they show how to proceed if you don't have a MODFLOW Model

Greetings
Ignacio
