Subject: Calculate results in one section of model only

Hello
Am calibrating a model through WEAP API. I change some parameters, run the model and then export results. I will calibrate the whole catchment but i am analysing separately all sub-catchments with a flow gauge. Even if am focusing on one sub-catchment only at a time (all other parameters do not change), WEAP recalculates the whole model. I thought that if i could tell WEAP not to recalculate the whole model, but only the subcatchment am analysing i would save a lot of time. Even if it is just 1 or 2 seconds per each calculation, this means hours when iterating this process +1000 times. Does anyone know if i can set WEAP to recalculate one section of the model only? Hi Juan,
Here's what I would recommend doing: Go to the WEAP menu "Schematic" and select the option Set "Active in Current Accounts." Here you can turn off all catchments, demand sites, reservoirs, return flows, and transmission links in your model. Turn off everything, and then turn on just the information for the area you're calibrating. Always start calibration with your most upstream gauge. As you move downstream, the elements for the upstream gauges should be left on, since they are all contributing to or withdrawing water from the flow at the downstream gauge. Note that this option turns off calculations just for current accounts, but this will carry through the reference and other scenarios UNLESS you have an element (such as a reservior) that begins operation in a scenario. In that case, that element will still activate. You can turn off scenarios in Area/Manage Scenarios and unchecking the box "show results for this scenario." Turning off the scenarios will speed up the model a lot, and of course they are unnecessary when running a historic model - you only need your Current Accounts and Reference data. |
