Subject: Change Current and Reference Year

Hi all,

I had a WEAP model and it had different scenarios like Current Scenario (1982), and reference scenario from (1982-2002). I want to add another scenario from (2002 to 2016). When I add another ref scenario, it keeps the years same like Reference(2002-2016)(1982-2002). I went to 'General' tab, and changed Years and time steps, but it changed the time series of my Current and Already built ref scenario.

Dear Ahmed,

WEAP only has two distinct time periods, the Current Accounts Year, which is always a single year (in your case, 1982), and the years of the scenarios, which start the year after your Current Accounts year, and go until the end of the model.

Unfortunately you can't have a scenario that starts after the reference scenario. One of the reasons WEAP is set up this way is so you can compare the results of the scenario to the results of your reference scenario (usually reference continues the current trends) to help answer the question "what happens if something changes in my system?".

To examine the time period from 2002-2016, I would extend your model to 2016. Then, for whatever changes you're implementing, be clear that they start in 2002. The yearly time series wizard is very helpful for this. Let me know if you have any further questions about this process.
